Kshamata’s

Unlimited (KULT)

Kshamata Unlimited (KULT) is an in-house and evolving social enterprise initiative that offers a ‘sheltered employment’ model for women on their journey toward economic independence. It acts as a crucial bridge between skills training and sustainable livelihoods, especially for survivors of trafficking, exploitation, and gender-based violence.

Through KULT, women are trained in vocational streams like tailoring, embroidery, eco-friendly jewellery, and handcrafted product-making. Once equipped with these skills, they engage in real-time production of marketable items, gaining confidence, experience, and income. These products are sold through institutional exhibitions, government and corporate orders, and ethical gifting platforms ensuring visibility and value for their work.

Objectives

KULT creates safe, structured work opportunities for women transitioning out of Kshamata’s Reintegration Program. A key platform for training in specific hard skills, it doubles up as a space to “earn while they learn,” while instilling workplace values like discipline, punctuality, communication, and accountability.

Though the hard skills taught may not always match future jobs, the soft skills gained are highly transferable across a wide range of work settings. KULT is both a training ground and a platform for confidence-building.

Over time, the initiative aims to become a self-sustaining, commercially viable enterprise—supporting both women’s livelihoods and Kshamata’s larger social impact.

Hub & Spoke Model

Kshamata Unlimited (KULT) operates through a dynamic hub-and-spoke model. This is a convergence program engagement model designed to create structured income-generation opportunities for women engaged through the Outreach and Kshamata Transformation Program (KTP). Centrally located in Thane, the Training and Production Hub delivers advanced vocational training, supervises production, and upholds product quality standards.

Women from Shelter Homes, Communities, and Kshamata Transformation Centre (KTC) are trained either at this central hub or within local sites that function as spokes. These sites enable decentralised training and product making. Once trained, women receive assignments sourced from the hub, allowing them to “earn while they learn” in a real-world setting.

Story

From Lost to Learning: Story of Growth at Kshamata Unlimited (KULT)

“I didn’t know who I was when I started—but now, I know I am capable. I have skills, confidence, and a future I can shape with my own hands.”

A few months ago, I didn’t know where I was headed. I felt uncertain, unmotivated, and unsure of what I was good at—if anything at all. I am Minu and this is my story of self-discovery.

When I first joined vocational training at Kshamata’s centre, I was just hoping to find something that made sense for me. I tried tailoring, but it didn’t interest me. I didn’t feel connected to it. I remember thinking, May be this just isn’t for me.

Then I was introduced to jewellery-making. Slowly, something shifted. The careful work, the creativity, drew me in. I began to enjoy what I was doing. The Kshamata team noticed, and motivated me to explore more. That’s when I discovered fabric painting and artisan work, and everything began to change.

Within just a month, I wasn’t the same person. I started looking forward to each day at the centre. I stopped getting into arguments. I focused on my work. I felt calmer, more in control, and more confident.

Learning new skills gave me more than just a way to earn. It gave me direction. I began to believe in myself. Now, I take initiative, meet deadlines, and work independently. For the first time, I feel proud of what I do. I have discovered that I have the ability to create something beautiful—and that’s something no one can take away from me.

KULT has made me grow—not just professionally, but personally. Like me, more than 2,300 girls and women have found their strength and independence through Kshamata’s skill-building and job readiness programs.
